We have a 100% success rate for everyone we Life Coach. Our biggest accomplishment would probably be the one of a young black male. His father came and asked for help along with the young man. After our initial meeting, the young man informed us the he had been asked to leave his father and step mother's home because of his behavior. He had been arrested for auto theft and was on probation, he had an unknown Sexually Transmitted Desease, he was working as a bagger at Kroger's part time, and getting a ride from his younger brother to work each day. We life coached him for three months, meeting every week at least an hour. At which point his STD was cured through the Department of Health, he got a full time job working with Coca Cola, he got his own car to get him back and forth to work from a dealership, and he is once again spending weekends at his parent's home. We connected him with a support group that got him the car and job. We closed his case with a plan for him to continue in the direction he was going and to stay in touch with the support group we introduced him to. Six months later he is still working and doing well.
Another accomplishment is that of a 12 year old young man who was referred to us by New Birth Baptist Church. The son of a single mother, he started disrespecting everyone including his mother. He had a few fights in school and was told that his next fight would result in him being placed in an alternative school. We life coached him and found out that he had been visiting his father on a monthly basis along with his older brother who stays with his father. Both of them have police records and have been arrested for assault more than once. We found that his father and brother had been speaking negatively into his life. After three and a half months of life coaching and speaking into his life, we found that he wanted to be an actor. We made the suggestion to his mother to limit and monitor the time spent with his father and brother. Six months later there have been no more issues at school and this young man is now an actor in a stage play in the Lithonia area of Georgia and is doing extremely well. The church mentorship program is very much involved in the young gentleman's life.
One of my favorites was a 14 year old male who was referred to me by the Boys and Girls Club. He was struggling with the other kids in the club and it was getting out of hand. I quickly found out that this young man had a problem with his mouth. He just had to have the last word and this got him in trouble with the older males in the club. I saw him for 5 weeks and we spoke about choosing his friends and what is important to him and his future. I missed the 6th week and when I returned he informed me that he was arrested for shoplifting and that the friend he was with had stole quite a bit more than he. I reminded him of our discussions regarding choosing friends and he said he would no longer hang with this friend. We moved forward with what we were trying to accomplish. When his father came to pick him up, he wanted to know if his son had told me everything. I ask that he tell me in case he missed something. He stated that his son was arrested and he had to pick him up from the jail. Then he told me that he whooped his son for what he did. I told him that he was his father and should discipline as he feels fit the crime. He then said that there was more. He stated that his son was more concerned about disappointing me, than he was about the beating. I got the young mans heart. What a feeling, he is now able to control his mouth and have been doing well from that point.
(Several more successes to come, stay tuned.)
