Getting Started

Getting Started the first thing to understand is that a young person cannot be forced into Life Coaching, they choose. This is a self elect program, which means that the young person must want help and then ask for help. In doing so, we don't waste time trying to convince them that they are making bad choices, they already know this and want help in changing the direction they are presently going. I believe that all young people know when they are doing something wrong or need help to get through a situation. They feel that they don't have the people in their lives that will help them, so they do it alone or choose the wrong person to advise them.

Once they have acknowledged that they need help, we meet with them and their parents and review the situation. We complete the initial application and both the parent and the youth are briefed on what is expected of them to move forward and the cost. The young persons are told about each of our programs and how they work, and we decide which program they will be involved in. The parents are told about the parent development program we have in place so that the child is not returned to the same environment. If both agree, then we move forward to the next step.

The next step would be to assign the young person to a Life Coach, girls are assigned female coaches and boys are assigned males. They will be introduced and will schedule a specific place and time to meet on a weekly basis and also exchange telephone numbers. The Life Coach will be there to listen and make sure the young person is aware of all the choices they have regarding the situation they are facing. They will help to lift the young person's self esteem and confidence until they change the direction and thinking pattern of the young person.

This will be done for a period of three to four months, at which time the situation should be solved or decisions made so that it will be solved shortly. The Life Coach will help the young person write a plan of success to continue to overcome situations. This program has a 100% success rate working in this manner. During this timeframe, the parents are spoken to by professionals such as Police officers, Medical Doctors, School Counselors, Drug Counselors and other professionals to help them become better parents, and be more aware of what is going on in their children's lives.
